Ida tells her story…

‘The Great Relay tour 2022 become a great adventure and I am so happy that I became the winner to do the trip!

Since I had already been in most of the countries I was supposed to plan the tour in (Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg) I tried to do the trip in other parts of the countries, that I had not seen yet.

I started the trip in a warm and sunny Denmark. After a rather exciting first day where I could not reach the side stand because I was too short and I had a flat tire on the highway in Sweden, the whole trip went smooth.  I have been riding in temperatures between -1 up to + 40 degrees and in all kinds of weathers (snow, rain, sun, wind). The thing I feared the most on this trip was to drop the bike since it was so high, but somehow, after a couple of days of the trip, I felt like that I must have grown at least 5cm. 

I have met so many nice H.O.G members during the trip from all countries, what an amazing community this is, and it was fun to see the different chapters and listen to the differences and similarities they have all over these countries.

I have seen many new places along the way and Faroe Islands was a place I saw the opportunity to finally visit since it belongs to Denmark.

When I got down to the Netherlands the trip got a little twist, there came another opportunity I did not want to miss out on. The European H.O.G rally in Portoroz, Slovenia! I made a quick decision and I drove there.

I got to meet Karen Davidson which was a lovely meeting, she signed the Trophy bike and I told her the story about the bike and she was very impressed that the H.O.G community managed to do last year’s relay tour, despite corona and all difficulties with travelling.

The Grande Finale of the trip was in Vielsalm, Belgium at The Great Rally, and it was fun to finally meet the H.O.G members from Benelux area, since I did not spend as much time there as I planned from the beginning.

The trip ended with 11903 km on the Trophy bike, 15 countries visited in 6 weeks.

I am so grateful for all the experiences the trip brought me, and I would like to thank the H.O.G.-members as well that I have met on the road. The Pan America Trophy bike, the H.O.G members and the places I have visited, will forever be close to my heart.
